Police and public health officials in Hastings and Prince Edward counties have joined up in a major campaign to prevent accidents on roads, trails and waterways.
Belleville Police Chief Cory McMullan says it’s “reasonable” to be sharing resources and forming a partnership in these tough economic times. McMullan expects the program will spread across the province. It focuses on education, statistics and analysis. The Quinte Region Traffic Coalition, which includes the Health Unit, Belleville and Stirling police, and area O-P-P, will be targeting areas with high frequency of accidents.
