Prince Edward County’s Committee of the Whole will consider getting ready to take ownership of the former Queen Elizabeth School property at its meeting Thursday afternoon at Shire Hall.
County council, along with Prince Edward Lennox & Addington Social Services, has already made a joint offer of $1 million to the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board for the property on Barker Street in Picton.
The school board is expected to decide on the sale of the property at a meeting May 23.
The County’s Committee of the Whole, in anticipation the offer will be approved, will discuss whether to move ahead with an Expression of Interest to be circulated to various social, health and community agencies to decide which of those could make suitable tenants to go along with proposed affordable housing.
