Belleville police responded to 102 calls for service over a 24-hour period from 5 a.m. on May 2, 2023 to 5 a.m. on May 3, 2023.
Warrant – Arrest
On May 2, 2023 at 9 p.m., Belleville police observed a female on Front Street who was known to have an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Norma Durant, 51 years old of Belleville, was arrested and later released with a court date in June 2023. The arrest warrant was for failing to comply with an undertaking.
Mischief, Breach Probation
On May 2, 2023 at 7:20 p.m., Belleville police were called to a group home in Belleville where it was reported a male resident was upset and had damaged an interior wall. Police also learned that the 19-year-old male was on probation from a previous incident. The male was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service where the situation was de-escalated and the male was able to calm down. He was later released back to the group home on an undertaking, charged with mischief under $5000 and breach of probation.
Recovered Stolen Truck
On May 2, 2023 shortly before midnight, while on patrol, Belleville police observed a truck in a parking lot in the area of West Park Village which drew their attention. Following an investigation, police learned that the truck had been reported stolen to the Durham Regional Police Service earlier that day. Police secured the truck and brought it back to the Belleville Police Service for examination. No arrests have been made.
