Not surprisingly, the rainy days lately have caused water levels in the Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River system to rise substantially.
The International Lake Ontario – St. Lawrence River Board says levels in Lake Ontario have been rising at around two centimetres a day lately and the St. Lawrence River is rising as well.
The board warns that there could be flooding in low-lying areas on the lake’s shoreline as well as downstream in areas on the river.
However, at this time the board is not predicting the water levels or subsequent flooding that occurred in 2017 and 2019.
