The Children’s Safety Village has received a grant that will help kids continue to enjoy and learn from the program.
The Million Dollar Round Table Foundation awarded a $5,000 US grant to the Safety Village to support transportation for students going to and from The Village.
The grant will cover about 100 bus trips, helping more than 2,500 children travel to and from The Village.
Local financial planner Shelley MacIntyre connected the Children’s Safety Village to the MDRT Foundation and provided a letter of support.
CSV Executive Director Bill Glisky thanked MacIntyre and the Foundation at a cheque presentation Thursday.
Glisky says they do not receive government funding and provides programming free of charge to students and schools.
The only cost to schools is transportation so the MDRT grant will help The Village continue to help schools meet this cost.
Sherry Barker of Parkhurst Transportation was also recognized for her role in promoting children’s safety and The Children’s Safety Village.
Parkhurst has been a long-time supporter of The Village and Barker has been a member of the CSV Board of Directors and chair of the Kids Got Talent fundraiser.
