The 429 Transport Bison Squadron at 8 Wing Trenton has a new Honorary Colonel.
Aleesha Camp was welcomed during an investiture ceremony earlier this month at the base.
Camp, a lifelong resident of Quinte West, is founder of the Quinte law firms Camp and Burgess and Elston Camp and has strong ties to CFB Trenton.
While studying Commerce and Law at Queen’s University she worked as a summer student at 8 Wing.
Her spouse, Jeff Baldwin, was also a pilot with 429 Transport Squadron.
Camp is an active supporter and volunteer for numerous organizations including the boards of The Children’s Foundation, Loyalist College, and the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Honorary Colonel Aleesha Camp, 429 Transport Squadron Honorary Colonel:
“I spent my whole life growing up in Quinte West except when I was away at university. This is a stark contrast to the members of 8 Wing who live far and wide and dedicate their careers in the protection of our rights and freedoms. Our house was and still is on 2nd Dug Hill Road where we lived in between two sets of tracks. So, two things were always of great fascination to us, trains and aircraft. My dad Roger always seemed to know what was in the air… “look at this,” and “there is a such and such,” just by the engine noise. This inspired my mom Fenis, and my brother Jason and me. We were always looking up at the sky it seemed.”
Lieutenant-Colonel Matt Lederle, Commanding Officer of 429 Transport Squadron:
“The role of the Honorary Colonel is to be a bridge to the community, to raise the profile of the Squadron, and to act as an advisor, both individually and as a link in the broader network of Honorary Colonels. Honorary Colonel Camp, as a pillar of the local community who is already familiar with 429 Transport Squadron’s operational role and lifestyle, is ideally suited to be this bridge, and to support Squadron members and their families. Welcome back to the Bison family, Honorary Colonel Camp!”
