Significant development will come to the long vacant expropriated lands north of the railway tracks at R.C.A.F. and Hamilton roads at CFB Trenton.
The Ottawa Citizen reported Tuesday morning the Department of National Defence will build a big ammunition storage facility on the overgrown land.
According to the report, that “ammo dump” could involve as many as 26 buildings.

“It’s good news. We would always like to see more investment in CFB Trenton. I know we were all disappointed to not see the JTF2 expansion that was promised“
Also included in the plans for the land are training facilities for the Canadian Join Incident Response Unit based at CFB Trenton.
That project is being designed and construction could start next year while more details on plans for ammunition storage are expected in coming months.
The land involved was expropriated from landowners, including the well known late farmer Frank Meyers, around 15 years ago to be used for the military’s elite and secretive Joint Task Force 2 but the unit never moved from its Ottawa base.
Bay of Quinte riding MP Ryan Williams is pleased that there will finally be investment at the base saying several plans have been bandied about over the past several years.
