The COVID-19 pandemic era is winding down.
Monday night the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board voted to end its virtual school program.
Rapidly declining enrolment in virtual school at both elementary and secondary levels has made the program unviable financially.
Only 82 kindergarten to grade 8 students participated in virtual learning in the last school year.
Meanwhile the year before in kindergarten to grade 10 classes almost 500 students were enrolled.
