It’s a chance to learn about Northumberland’s manufacturing industry.
The Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association is partnering with Northumberland County to run an open houses in seven of the county’s industries.
The tours, scheduled for Saturday April 22 will give the public the chance to tour facilities in Port Hope, Cobourg, and Campbellford.
“We want to show the community and the amazing things that are built right in their backyard,” Executive Director for the Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association, Darla Price, tells Quinte News.
“We want to get rid of some of the stereotypes of our industry and to show you innovation, and robots and our amazing teams and just the really cool things that manufacturing brings to a community.”
Select manufacturers will give tours of their facilities to showcase what is being made.
These include the following manufacturers:
- CPK Interior Products in Port Hope
- Trade Tech Industries in Port Hope
- Graphic Packaging International in Cobourg
- Cameco Fuel Fuel Manufacturing in Cobourg
- Venture13 Innovation & Entrepreneurship Centre in Cobourg
- Mirmil Products in Campbellford
- Blommer Chocolate in Campbellford
“We’re hoping over the four hours in total we can probably tour 200 to 300 individuals per location,” Price explains.
The first tour will start at 10 a.m. with the final tour starting at 2 p.m.
Community members aged 10 or older can participate in the event.
There will also be a free community BBQ taking place at select locations from noon to 1 p.m.
More information about the event, including more details about each tour, can be found at the Northumberland Manufacturers’ Association’s website.
