Firefighters from Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue responded to a fire at 79 Main Street in Picton at 8 a.m. on Friday.
Upon arrival, firefighters located and quickly extinguished a fire in the basement of the building, limiting damage to the structure.
The fire caused close to $400,000 in damage to the structure, even though firefighters were able to douse the flames quickly.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
