Belleville police have arrested a city man following an incident involving violent vandalism at a downtown apartment late Wednesday night.
Police report the apartment’s tenant reported someone they barely knew had caused damage to the door and destroyed the Ring doorbell camera shortly before midnight.
Police viewed what video there was learning that the camera was smashed with a fire extinguisher while the apartment door was stabbed with a large knife.
Officers located a suspect sleeping on a nearby rooftop, arresting an unidentified 44-year-old man on mischief, possession of a dangerous weapon, and breach of probation charges.
The man appears for a bail hearing Thursday.
