Talk about making a huge first impression.
On Sunday the Belleville Senators signed 27-year-old goaltender Mark Sinclair to a professional tryout from the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones.
Wednesday night he gave them a 41 save shutout in his AHL debut but was denied the win as the Cleveland Monsters aced Belleville 1-0 in a shootout.
In the Monsters’ net was Jet Greaves, who one night earlier stopped 46 shots in his NHL debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
Greaves turned aside 26 B-Sens shots.
The result leaves Belleville two points behind Laval for the fifth and final North Division playoff spot with four games left. However, Cleveland is just one point behind the Rocket with two games in hand.
