A new multi-use facility could be on the horizon for Brighton.
At its meeting Monday, Brighton council received a staff report on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan paving the way for plans to be considered in strategic planning.
Mayor Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News one of the plans’ major points involves a multi-use facility but it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the King Edward Community Centre.
“Likely we would just re-utilize that space but we haven’t really put any serious thought into the actual, you know, next steps of this, other than if, you know we’d wanna be using that space while something was being constructed and built and the question becomes is it modular, do we do one thing at a time that can be added on to or is it a large build?”
“There are also things like trail accessibility that we’re going to want to make sure we’re doing a good job with. You know the days of maybe putting gravel or wood chips down maybe, are fine in some areas but we’re gonna wanna make sure we’re hard topping some trails too for accessibility purposes.”
