Negotiations are ongoing between Tri-Board Student Transportation Services and CUPE local 1479 workers as a strike looms.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says the seven employees it represents are set to walk off the job in a legal strike on April 3.
Six of the seven workers are transportation planners.
Tri-Board says that daily operations of school buses would not be affected even if some employees do go on strike.
CUPE says the route planners are being paid 19% less than the going rate while Tri-Board counters that the union is seeking parity with jobs with significantly greater responsibilities.
In an email to Quinte News, Tri-Board CEO Gord Taylor said negotiations are ongoing with the union but could not predict how the outcome would go at this time.
