As might be expected two local Members of Parliament, both members of the Opposition Conservative party, aren’t especially impressed with the Liberal government’s new budget announced yesterday.
Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman says while there were some good sections in the budget it did little to address the very real issue of inflation hurting average citizens while adding $43 billion to an already enormous deficit.
Bay of Quinte riding MP Ryan Williams retweeted a Globe and Mail commentary by Andrew Coyne whose headline was “If the government wanted to strangle economic growth this is the budget it would produce.”
Williams says the middle class will get hit with over $22 billion in new taxes while the wealthiest one per cent of the population will only pay $600 million more.
