The Belleville Senators collected another valuable point while wearing Belleville Bulls jerseys in a highly contested 3-2 shootout loss to the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night at CAA Arena. The game was promoted as “History of Hockey/Belleville Bulls night.”
Following a scoreless first period, Belleville opened the scoring after Angus Crookshank was able to capitalize on the power play to give the Senators a 1-0 lead after forty minutes of play.
In the third, Belleville continued to extend their advantage as Jonathan Aspirot found the back of the net with his fifth of the campaign. Later in the frame, Milwaukee began to mount their come-from-behind effort as Tye Felhaber got the visitors on the board before Cole Schneider equalized with the man advantage at the 18:28 mark of the frame to force extra time.
After a fast-paced overtime, the Admirals secured their hard-fought road victory in the shootout. The game was played in front of a big crowd with 3,683 fans in attendance.
The Senators’ push towards a Calder Cup Playoff berth resumes next Friday when they visit the Syracuse Crunch, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
