A 39-year-old man has been charged after an altercation with Belleville police, which resulted in a police injury.
Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers did a records check at Bridge and Church streets on a suspect that was known to them.
He was wanted by police and during an attempted arrest, the suspect resisted and pulled out a long screwdriver.
A fight ensued, the man was arrested, and an officer suffered a broken hand.
The man was charged with resisting arrest and weapons dangerous.
He was held for a bail hearing.
