The Township of Tyendinaga is going to be running a trial for a new date and time for council meetings.
The municipality typically would hold meetings on the first and third Monday evenings of the month, or Tuesday evenings of a long weekend.
Councillor Jen Phillips put forward a request to change the date and time.
CAO Carla Preston says one of the concerns was that council would often get an agenda on Friday evening and then would need to go through a large amount of information over the weekend, sometimes hundreds of pages. If they had questions, it could often prove difficult to track down an answer on a Saturday or Sunday.
Preston says on Monday evening, council elected to try the first and third Wednesday afternoons. The closed session would begin at 3:00 p.m., the open session starting at 4:00 p.m.
Preston says this will come up for review at the end of November when council will decide whether or not to make the change permanent.
