Playoffs continue for local hockey teams.
In the Junior A playoffs, the Cobourg Cougars dismantled the Trenton Golden Hawks 9-3, scoring their first win to the Golden Hawks’ three, in their best of seven series
Zev Podolski, Robbie Rutledge, and Matthew Cato scored for the Golden Hawks.
The Cougars started strong with the first goal of the game late in the first period, when the Golden Hawks answered with their own. The second frame was disastrous for the G-Hawks as the Cougars scored goal after goal and the Golden Hawks slipped further and further behind, ending the frame with no goals, and trailing 6-1. The Golden Hawks came back in the third period, scoring two more goals, but it was too little too late, as the Cougars took another three for themselves, and the game.
The two teams clash again tonight at 7:30 p.m. If the Golden Hawks win, they’ll take the best of seven series and move on in the playoffs.
