Pop punk princess Avril Lavigne of Napanee has been named the winner of the Fan Choice Award at the Juno ceremony last night in Edmonton.
The singer-songwriter reflected on the 21 years since her debut album “Let Go” was released.
“I’ve seen the industry change so much. Music changed, the business changed, technology changed. Trends come and go, artists come and go but the one thing that’s been most consistent for me is my fan base (cheers) … over the last 20 years … thank you guys so much!”
Lavigne also won the award in 2005, 2019 and 2020.
Beyond the accolades, Lavigne also found herself using “colourful language” to shoo a topless protester from the Edmonton stage, shortly after the show got underway.
The woman had leapt on the stage wearing pasties with “land back” and “save the greenbelt” painted on her body.
