The City of Belleville’s Planning Committee has approved a draft plan of subdivision and zoning by-law amendment to bring a long term care home and housing to vacant land on Sidney Street at Bell Boulevard.
Under the plan and amendment, a new five-storey residential care building would be built that would house 160 residents.
Development of 34 townhouse dwellings is also part of the rezoning application.
The application also proposes that Adrian Street be extended north to provide access to different areas.
The draft plan of subdivision and the zoning by-law amendment will be brought to city council for final approval at a future date.
