Belleville council will sign off on an agreement leading to a major federal grant to help plan for the electrification of the city’s public transit system.
Under the agreement Belleville will receive over $156,000 from the Zero Emission Transit Fund.
The city itself will provide just over $39,000 toward the plan’s total cost of almost $196,000.
The plan will provide a systematic process leading eventually to the use of electric buses on every route in Belleville.
