Belleville Police Service responded to 191 calls for service in the 72-hour period from 5 a.m. on February 24, 2023 to 5 a.m. on February 27, 2023.
Driver identified.
Belleville police had reported in the February 21 release that on February 20, 2023 a black Subaru was observed driving dangerously on Sidney Street and fled from police on Sherwood Crescent. Police later received a phone call from the male suspect who had attempted to report his vehicle stolen. The male, 27-year-old Bradley Reid of Picton, was interviewed by police on February 24. Following the interview, Reid was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and flight from police. Reid was later released with a March 23, 2023 court date.
Theft
On February 24, 2023 at 4:25 p.m., Belleville police responded to a complaint of a theft at a Millennium Parkway business. Police were advised that the female subject attempted to leave the store without paying for the contents in her cart. Candice Matthews, 42, of Belleville, was arrested and later released with a March 23, 2023 court date for the charge of theft under $5000.
Impaired Driver
On February 25, 2023 at 10:09 p.m., police were called to the area of Yeomans Street and Union Street for a report of a male slumped over the steering wheel of his car. Police attended the area and located the male in his vehicle, and an investigation ensued. As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Belleville man, Peter Reid, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he refused to provide his second breath sample. Reid was later released with a March 23, 2023 court date for the charges of operating a motor vehicle while impaired and refusal to provide a breath sample.
