The Belleville Senators slipped past the Scranton Penguins 2-1 in overtime on Saturday.
Roby Jarventie and Cole Reinhardt scored for the Senators.
Both teams remained deadlocked through most of the first period, until the Sens claimed the first goal with just two minutes left in the frame. The teams reentered their stalemate as the second period dragged on, neither team claiming any points. Finally, the Penguins came back to tie the game in the third period, and forced the Senators into overtime, where they scored the final game-winning point.
Senators interim head coach David Bell was especially impressed with their new debut goalie, Dylan Ferguson, who made 38 saves.
“He was solid all night. He was really good, he made a couple of big saves in the first, and it just kept building,” said Bell.
The Senators continue their road trip this afternoon as they travel to face the Hershey Bears at 3 p.m.
