There is good news for children using Tyendinaga playground this summer.
New playground equipment will be installed at the Tyendinaga Township Recreation Complex in time for the summer holidays.
Last August staff removed the existing equipment due to unsafe structural conditions.
Staff had prioritized replacement of the equipment through a capital grant application with the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Receiving grant approval, the bidding was open for four weeks, closing earlier in February.
This week council approved the bid by OpenSpace Solutions at $118,667.
The township received a total of 17 bids across eight different suppliers.
CAO Carla Preston tells Quinte News the work will go ahead this year.
“The anticipated start date would be in June of 2023. It’ll be in time for summer which is fabulous.”
The staff report indicated OpenSpace Solutions Inc. submitted a proposal that “best suits the needs and requests of the township. Its design had a variety of play features for all ages of youth.
