One Hundred Plus Women Who Care presented a cheque for $7300 to the Enrichment Centre for Mental Health during a ceremony today.
The charitable donation by the group was already transferred to the Enrichment Centre, who have already used just under half of the funds to cover emergency repairs to their building after a burst pipe in December flooded 7000 square feet in the building, destroying floors, file cabinets and cubicle dividers.
Tawnya Smith, a member of the 100+ Women Who Care Leadership Team who presented the cheque said it was incredible to see the repaired part of the building and the immediate impact their group’s fundraising had.
“To hear that the money raised by 100+ Women was available right then and there, to help them, it gives me goosebumps still. It’s amazing.”
Sandie Sidsworth, Executive Director for the Enrichment Centre said that the rest of the funds are being put towards a collective kitchen project.
The project seeks to help people with food insecurity by providing space to prepare lunches they can take with them to eat later.
