POSTMA, James “Jim”… Passed away peacefully at the Prince Edward Memorial Hospital, Picton on Sunday, February 5th, 2023 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of Gerdie Postma (née Rinsma) for 47 beautiful years. Loving father of Anna Postma-Hultink & her husband Dan Hultink of Brighton, Christina & her husband David Indewey of Codrington. Proud Pake of Jackson, Carter, Emma & Riley.
Cherished brother of Henry Postma (Suzanne) of Brighton; Tom Postma (Ann) of Frankford; John Postma (Lee) of Belleville; Evelyn Rinsma (Klaas) of Brighton; Dorothy Kuipers (Tim) of Trenton; Barb Horsley (Dale) of Trenton. Predeceased by his parents John & Anna Postma (née Fokkens), his sister in law Ann Postma (née Veltman), his nephew Ed Kuipers and his baby nephew Grant Postma. James will be truly missed by nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Jim was born in Drogeham, Friesland, Holland and immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1953. Jim had to learn English and conquer one of his greatest life changes when he was only 8 years old. He met the love of his life and created a whole life here in Canada. Jim loved gardening and dreamt that one day he would have his own Apple Orchard. His dream came true in 1990 , when “Postma Orchards” opened to the public and remained open until 2001. Jim was dedicated to Quaker Oats for 35 years. He will be truly remembered and missed by so many. A special thank you to all the staff at Trent Valley Lodge, Trenton and Prince Edward Memorial Hospital, Picton for all their care and support.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the EBENEZER Christian Reformed Church, 18 Fourth Ave, Trenton on Saturday, February 11th, 2023 from 1 – 2 PM. A Funeral Service will begin at 2 PM. Reception to follow. Burial to take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Brighton in the Spring of 2023.
In memory of James, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada or the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
