Public meetings were held at the City of Belleville’s City Chambers regarding two by-law amendments on Monday.
The City of Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee first heard feedback on a rezoning application for a 4.47 hectare piece of land between Avonlough Road and Sienna Avenue.
This would be for the next phase of the Potters Creek subdivision.
The rezoning would make way for the development of 44 dwelling units including 35 single-detached dwellings and nine townhouses.
Remaining lands would be subject to future development.
A presentation was conducted by Ruth Ferguson Aulthouse on the latest of Phase 9d.
During the presentation, a consultation with a resident in the area was referenced where concerns were raised regarding a new roundabout planned to be constructed in the area and the preservation of an existing willow tree.
That resident attended the public meeting.
“I’ve been working with Potter’s Creek developments and RFA planning over the last few weeks and the meetings have been very productive and many concerns have been addressed,” Christopher Destin told the committee.
The development of a new long term care facility and townhouses on Sidney Street were also discussed.
The proposed rezoning of the 2.3 hectare piece of land at 645 Sidney Street north of Tracey Street would enable the development of a five-storey long term care home on the west side of the property and permit 34 townhouse units on the east side.
Ferguson Aulthouse also delivered the presentation on the proposed development outlining the plan.
One resident expressed concern of the construction and noise on Adrian St, a road close to the development.
Ivan Emelianenko said that that street had not been properly fixed during his time living in the area.
He says addressing the concern now would not only help people living there now, but the future tenants of the 34 townhouse units.
No decision on either by-law amendment was made at the meeting.
