The Springfield Thunderbirds smashed the Belleville Senators 5-1 on Friday night.
Angus Crookshank scored for the Senators.
The Thunderbirds got off to an explosive start, racking up three goals in the first period and prompting a change of goaltender, swapping Luke Perresini for Logan Flodell. Neither team scored in the second period but the Senators started a comeback with a third-period goal, only to be stopped dead with two more goals by the Thunderbirds to secure a commanding lead.
Belleville Senators Head Coach Troy Mann wasn’t happy with how the game went.
“I think they came as advertised. I don’t think we played our game plan to a tee. Unfortunately, they got some early goals on us,” said Mann.
The Senators play the Thunderbirds again on Saturday.
