A dispute over a proposed large expansion of Quinte’s Isle Campark could be coming to a conclusion soon.
At a meeting Wednesday, January 18, Prince Edward County’s Planning and Development Committee will be asked to approve
a Minutes of Settlement agreement on an appeal by the Friends of the South Shore (FOSS) against a council
decision to approve Official Plan and zoning amendments allowing an expansion of Quinte’s Isle by 337 park model trailer sites.
FOSS had appealed council’s 2021 decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal over concerns about noise, traffic, and the natural environment.
Both Quinte’s Isle and the Friends of the South Shore have agreed to changes in the zoning by-law for the property and now Prince Edward County council
must sign off on the changes before the Tribunal gives its final approval.
The agreement would mandate what and where signage would be located, the implementation of natural floodproofing, more tree planting, and the establishment of wildlife
corridors.
