Quinte West City Council approved an amendment to a by-law regarding salary for Deputy Mayor on Wednesday.
Council voted to eliminate the salary for the Deputy Mayor.
Instead, council approved a cost of living increase for this term based on the Consumer Price Index.
Before the amendment, a deputy mayor would be paid $32,000 a year.
Council also approved a by-law that would appoint a new Deputy Mayor every two months.
The following councillors will serve as Deputy Mayor on the following months:
- January/February – Jim Alyea
- March/April – Duncan Armstrong
- May/June – Egerton Boyce
- July/August – Zack Card
- September/October – Terry Cassidy
- November/December – Michael Kotsovos
