The Belleville Senators slipped past the Syracuse Crunch in a 3-2 shootout victory last night.
Angus Crookshank and Scott Sabourin scored for the Senators during regular play while Viktor Lodin and Egor Sokolov found the net during the shootout.
Crookshank claimed the first goal of the game just over eight minutes into the first period on a power play, giving the Senators an early lead.
The Crunch got on the board in the second period, claiming a goal with less than two minutes left in the frame to tie the game 1-1 before the third.
The Senators retook the lead, but the Crunch claimed a goal of their own and forced the game into overtime, where neither team scored and the game went to a shootout.
Viktor Lodin and Egor Sokolov claimed the shootout and the game for the Senators.
Senators Head Coach Troy Mann said that momentum can swing wildly in games like this.
“Typical game in Syracuse, a lot of ups and downs and the momentum swings in this building seem like they’re a little bit more intense,” said Mann.
The Senators return home to host the Manitoba Moose tonight at 7:05.
