Belleville Fire and Emergency Services is celebrating the festive season with its 12 Days of Holiday Cheer campaign.
The group of volunteers began the campaign on December 14 at Aspira Quinte Gardens Retirement Living handing out more than 200 seasonal cards to residents.
Every day through Christmas they’re making a different stop around the city to hand out toys, coffee and greeting cards, and meet with community members.
So far, they’ve also made stops at Quinte Children’s Treatment Centre, Three Oaks Foundation, Enchanted Holiday Market, Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society, Pathways to Independence and Belleville General Hospital’s Oncology Floor and Medical Day Clinic.
Still to come are visits to Richmond Retirement Residence, Belleville Dialysis Clinic and 111 Great St. James St.,
The campaign will end with the group helping to serve the daily lunch program at Bridge Street United Church on December 24 and 25.
“This year, we really wanted a way for our members to engage with their community and help spread some holiday cheer,” said Belleville Fire Chief and Director of Emergency Services Monique Belair. “I would like to say a special thank you to the Belleville Professional Firefighters Toy Drive for providing the toys for this campaign. On behalf of BFES, I would like to wish all residents another five days (and more) of holiday cheer.”
