Quinte West firefighters, Hastings-Quinte paramedics, and other bystanders had some scary moments Friday morning when a transport caught fire outside of Fellows Towing on Coad Road just north of Trenton.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says firefighters were called out around 8:30.
“The truck and driver were towed in at 5 in the morning and he said “I’m going to sleep in the truck, in the back” so then it caught fire and everyone thought he was in the back still so that was a little anxious for us until we found him, he came wandering over when the fire was just about out, he was at Tim Hortons.”
The fire was completely doused in less than a half an hour and there was no damage to the building.
Earlier just after 6 o’clock firefighters responded to the Starbucks near Highway 401 in Trenton for a minor fire that was dealt with quickly.
The Quinte West Fire Department dealt with well over a dozen incidents since later Thursday night, most involving downed hydro lines due to the storm.
