Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement with a snowstorm set to hit the region later this week.
A strong low pressure system is expected to affect southern Ontario later this week with heavy snow and blowing snow to start early Thursday afternoon into Friday.
Fifteen centimetres of accumulation is possible by Friday afternoon.
Environment Canada reports higher snowfall amounts exceeding 15 cm are possible, however, confidence in this occurring is low.
Lesser snowfall amounts are expected near Lake Ontario where snow may transition to rain.
Snow will gradually taper to flurries Friday morning.
Expect reduced visibility and hazardous travel conditions including for the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
