2023 is upon us and we continue to focus on the priorities and planning of local municipalities.
Mayor of Brighton Brian Ostrander tells Quinte News his focus is getting a full year under the belt of the new council.
“Making sure our council gets up to speed, has a good understanding of their role as governors of the municipality, as members of council. Just make sure we’re all informed of what’s happening. Nobody likes surprises, especially when you’re on council. That’s going to be my top priority this year.”
He says from there, the goal will be to get a new strategic plan.
Ostrander tells Quinte News that for so many local municipalities, housing will be a top priority, but Brighton is in pretty good shape.
“We’ve been on the radar of certainly our local development community for some time, in terms of building out housing stock. We’ve got lots of housing projects on the books and in the works.”
He says the rollout of several large subdivisions in the community is happening over the next few years.
Ostrander says Brighton’s sandwiched between all the good of the Bay of Quinte and Northumberland County.
