The Belleville Senators slipped past the Laval Rocket with a 2-1 shootout victory on Friday.
Egor Sokolov and Rourke Chartier scored for the Senators.
The game got off to a slow start with no goals in the first period for either team. Chartier opened up for the Senators early in the second, but the Rocket tied the score and neither team gave any ground even through overtime, forcing a shootout where Sokolov scored the game winner for the Senators.
Head Coach Troy Mann thought the senators played a strong defensive game.
“I thought we played well and came out with some purpose, but the thing I really liked about our game was our D-zone coverage. We did a really good job protecting the middle of the ice,” said Mann.
The Senators face the Rocket again Saturday Afternoon at 3pm.
