Prince Edward County is seeking public input as it prepares to update its food truck and sidewalk patio by-laws.
Staff are in the midst of a comprehensive review of both programs looking to shape them for the 2023 summer season and beyond.
The public is invited to complete a survey on the Have Your Say platform through December 19.
In addition to online input, there will also be two public consultations – December 10 at the Wellington District Community Centre, and December 11 at the Prince Edward Community Centre in Picton.
Both consultations to take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A Food Truck By-Law has been in place since 2006.
The current by-law allows a maximum of 20 licences a year with each owner allowed up to have up to five trucks.
Residents are being asked to comment on the long-term viability of mobile restaurants at Wellington Rotary Beach and other municipal properties.
The Sidewalk Patio Program began as a pilot program in 2014.
It was due for a review in 2019 but was pushed back due to the pandemic.
The review will consider whether to continue with a permanent sidewalk patio program and if so, how to establish it.
To date, County staff have consulted with food service industry stakeholders and conducted an internal program review.
Business owners are also invited to comment via Have Your Say, at the public consultations or contacting staff directly.
Results of the public and industry consultation will be published on Have Your Say in January and will be included in a comprehensive staff report in the first quarter of 2023.
