The Municipality of Tweed will be holding a special council meeting for those impacted by the tornado back in July.
Those affected by the F2 tornado will be able to share their stories, videos, pictures and ideas to council at the meeting.
Mayor Don DeGenova says the meeting is being held to get the attention of the provincial and federal government.
“We did everything we could in clearing the roads. Everything,” Mayor DeGenova tells Quinte News.
“We set up an emergency centre to help people in a time of need but that’s what we can do and that’s the best we can do. We can be a voice and a voice for all of the other municipalities around here. We can be a strong voice, and we’ve got to do something to help these people.”
Mayor DeGenova says there is a fear from residents of further damage from the aftermath of the tornado.
“I’m so frustrated from the residents perspective here because nobody wants to do anything.” DeGenova said.
“We’re gonna lobby as much as we can to help them out. But they have two big fears, flooding and forest fires, and that could be very real.”
The meeting will take place at the Tweed Hungerford Agricultural Building at 297 St. Joseph Street on December 13.
