Quinte Red Devils graduate Owen Beck is among the 29 players invited to Team Canada’s selection camp in Moncton New Brunswick for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships.
The 18-year-old Beck is a second round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens and in his second season with the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads where he has 15 goals and 15 assists in 23 games.
The Port Hope native is one of 16 forwards in camp. Thirteen are expected to make the final roster.
Former Belleville Bulls player and coach James Boyd is the U-20 lead for Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence management group. Boyd is the General Manager of the OHL’s Ottawa 67s.
Canada will name its final roster on December 12.
Halifax and Moncton are the hosts of this year’s World Junior Hockey Championship which opens on Boxing Day.
