The new year is just hours away and Quinte News continues to talk with politicians, those in health care and education, and representatives across the region.
That included the Member of Parliament for the riding of Hastings-Lennox and Addington Shelby Kramp-Neuman.
She says the cost of living will be the main focus for everyone in the riding and across the country.
Kramp-Neuman says as tough as things get, there is so much we can be thankful for.
She says her staff does an incredible job in the riding to help those living in Hastings-Lennox and Addington.
“My team on the ground because there’s so many troubles and concerns right now with immigration, Service Canada in general, Revenue Canada. Right now the amount of people that our team was able to help, that’s probably one of the biggest wins.”
She adds that keeping the focus on the most vulnerable in the riding is the main priority
“I think we have to focus on the have-nots, and not necessarily the people that have yachts. Give Canadians some hope and show that we are continuously listening to Canadians. Not forget how I got here and just focus on what I can control, because it’s so easy to get caught up and become Otta-washed and that’s certainly not what’s happening in my case.”
