Wellington’s eight-game winning streak is now a nine-game point streak. The Dukes fell 5-4 in double overtime to the Toronto Junior Canadiens.
Lucas LaPalm scored twice while captain Jacob Vreugdenhil added a goal and assist. Barrett Joynt added his seventh goal in eight games.
That is Wellington’s first loss since October 21 when they suffered a 2-1 setback to Trenton. The Dukes meet the Golden Hawks Friday night at the Dunc McDonald Community Gardens.
Golden Hawks 3 Brantford 1
Despite outshooting Brantford 55-23 it took a third-period goal by Austin D’Orazio to break a 1-1 tie and send the G-Hawks to a 3-1 victory over the 99s.
Ryan Holmes gave Trenton insurance with his second goal of the game.
The G-Hawks play their third game in four days tonight (Monday) when they travel to Cobourg.
Picton 5 Campbellford 4 (overtime)
In Junior C hockey, Jack Dow completed his hat trick at 2:25 of overtime as the Picton Pirates shaded the Campbellford Rebels 5-4.
Landon McLellan added a pair for the Pirates. Ben Hanson scored twice for the Rebels.
