An application to rezone a property at Blessington Road Highway 37 to help facilitate development of a 30,000 square foot warehouse/distribution facility and a self-storage establishment failed to get past the City of Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee Monday night.
The initial application began in June of 2020.
The company that put in the application was requested to receive input from the public, commenting agencies and municipal departments related to a Land Use Compatibility Assessment and Noise Impact Assessment.
Committee member Paul Jennings, who did not vote in favour of the application, questioned the input of the studies.
Jennings also expressed concern of a potential emissions problem coming from the trucks at the facility.
He took note of a recommendation that would have trucks idle for only 60 seconds.
At previous meetings several residents in the area had told the committee that the businesses would not be suitable for the area with most having concerns about too much traffic and noise coming from the warehouse/distribution centre.
