Two Belleville women are competing in different parts of the world for gold medal supremacy in their respective sports.
Jackie Jarrell scored three goals and an assist to lead Team Canada to an 8-0 rout of Brazil at the Women’s In-Line World Hockey Championships in Buenes Aires Argentina yesterday.
Jarrell has four goals and three assists in the round robin portion as Canada finishes with a 3-1 record in their pool.
Canada advances to the quarter finals against host Argentina today (Thursday). Argentina was 2-2 in the round robin.
Svoboda in New Zealand
Centennial Secondary School graduate Sara Svoboda is with the Canadian Women’s Rugby team at the World Cup in New Zealand.
Canada is ranked third in the world and second in their pool where they steamrolled to a 3-0 record outscoring the U.S., Italy and Japan by 61 points.
That included a 29-14 win over the Americans who they will face again in a quarter final rematch Saturday night.
Sara Svoboda has been playing in the United Kingdom for the Loughborough Lightning of the English Women’s Premier League.
