Light the Night Belleville is coming up later this month to honour those who have battled or are battling lymphoma and leukemia.
It’s part of a national event that is also a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Liane Woodley says they began organizing the event in honour of her sister Carol who passed away last year after a battle with leukemia.
“You know, when she was in the hospital at Kingston General Hospital, she saw a poster for Light the Night Kingston and so Carol said to me ‘Liane, you know, when I’m better, we’re gonna walk in that walk.’ She passed away October 20 and so we decided that to honour her and to sort of keep her legacy alive, of caring and kindness and giving, that we would host a volunteer event here in Belleville for Light the Night.”
The Belleville walk is being held October 22 at Zwick’s Trail.
There will also be speakers, a silent auction and a lantern ceremony.
