Northumberland County paramedics will be offering home care to seniors who are waiting to be placed in a long term care home.
The program is known as Community Paramedicine for Long Term Care and will see paramedics offering non-emergency visits and online service 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout Northumberland.
Specially trained paramedics will take electrocardiograms, blood tests, and perform diagnostic procedures, among other services.
A similar program is already underway in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
