Belleville City Council recognized a retiring volunteer firefighter at its meeting on Tuesday.
Station Commander Cliff Christopher is retiring November 30 after serving the City of Belleville as a Volunteer Firefighter for 36 years.
Fire Chief Monique Belair noted the importance of volunteer firefighters to Belleville Fire and Emergency Services stating these firefighters wake up in the middle of the night to respond to calls and often head to their regular work just a few hours later.
