RELEASE FROM BAY OF QUINTE MP RYAN WILLIAMS
Bay of Quinte MP Ryan Williams has been working with local
agencies and groups to support those who are homeless in our community.
Williams has been speaking with mental health agencies, local police and groups
who help provide homes to those in our community. MP Williams says “There is one
common factor – it could be just one step for someone to become homeless. It may
be unemployment, a health issue, addiction, or an eviction. But in speaking with
local support teams, I have heard that often it takes three steps to get back out of
homelessness.”MP Williams says, “For some, the second step to getting out of being homeless is
transitional housing.” MP Williams recently met with organizers of Shiloh House in
Belleville, part of the Grace Inn Shelter. MP Williams toured the facility and spoke
with Joe Penberthy Shiloh House Coordinator, Rachael Prinzen and Shawn Stickler
from the Grace Inn Shelter Board of Directors and Rob Crisp Executive Director of
Grace Inn Shelter & Shiloh Transitional House and Emma Earle, Grace Inn Shelter &
Shiloh House Systems Navigator. This new facility will see up to 60 people a year
move from shelter to transitional housing to their own home. MP Williams applauds
the team involved in making this happen and says “It is innovative and much
needed.”
