I was raised in a devout Catholic family in Toronto where I attended Catholic schools from kindergarten to the end of high school. I was registered at St. Michael’s College during my studies at University of Toronto where I graduated from medical school over 30 years ago. When I moved to Belleville in the 1990s, I became a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church. As a practising Catholic, I endeavour to live life by two rules: Honour God and Love thy Neighbour. Since we all are created in God’s image, we are invaluable and have inherent dignity.
As a family physician, I had the privilege of participating in patients’ healthcare needs from prenatal care to natural death. The Belleville Physicians’ Family Health Organization elected me as Lead Physician to run the group of over 30 family doctors from its inception in 2007 until I retired.
I’ve been a member of the Canadian Physicians for Life for many years. PAFE ( Parents as First Educators), CatholicConscience.org, and CLC (Campaign Life Coalition) have endorsed my candidacy for school board trustee.
Our children need to be taught that we are all made in God’s image and have been bestowed a unique set of talents. We should all have equal opportunity to maximize our talents and strive to make the world a better place not only for us and our families but for society. We should have the resources to achieve success for all students yet many are not able to achieve their full potential because our children are not put first. Students need to be educated not indoctrinated by radical activists so that they may become productive members of society.
A Catholic school board’s decisions should be based on Biblical Catholic values, not secular ones. Together we can put ‘Catholic’ back in the Catholic school system. Doing the right thing often means going against the secular narrative in today‘s society. Collaboration is important but not at the cost of abandoning one’s principles. As Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board Trustee, I promise to work diligently to advocate for Catholic education in order to allow all students to achieve their full potential.
