The Quinte West Professional Firefighters Association Local 1328
(QWPFFA) announces the launch of the 31st annual Coats For Kids Program for this winter.
QWPFFA members have been working hard all year to ensure warm winter clothing is available
for local residents.
Donations of new or gently-used kids’ winter coats, snow pants, hats and mitts can be dropped
off at Quinte West Fire Station 1, 49 Dixon St. Trenton, or 85 Marmora St. beside the Fire Hall,
on:
● Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
● Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
● Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
● Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Last year, more than 400 coats were distributed to local kids. “The Coats for Kids program has
continued to have significant support from local businesses, service clubs, and individual
donors,” says QWPFFA President Jay Coxwell. “Without the generosity of these groups, we
wouldn’t be able to continue with this program on our own. We always look forward to serving
our community in this capacity, not just in emergency situations.”
The Coats for Kids program was started in 1991 by local firefighters passionate about helping
kids stay warm during the winter. Each year, QWPFFA firefighters conduct fundraising activities
and shop for good quality winter wear so that they can give coats away as the cold weather
approaches.
If your child is in need of a winter coat this year, contact Quinte West Fire and Emergency
Services, at 613-392-6557 to book an appointment for coat pick-up. Coats will be distributed by
appointment only. Proof of identification for the parent / guardian upon coat pick-up is required.
